Securing raw materials for green urban development

Over the last three decades, volcanic raw materials have played a crucial role in the production of roof, tree and turf substrates. These materials are essential to meet the legal requirements for the production of vegetation products and to produce high-quality substrates.

However, the deposits in Germany cannot meet the growing demand for high-quality lava in Europe. In addition, the increasing dry periods in summer significantly limit the year-round transport options via rivers such as the Rhine.

To counteract this future shortage of raw materials, CALAVA SL has developed new, high-quality volcanic raw materials on Gran Canaria that are suitable for the production of substrates. This strategic decision ensures that sufficient high-quality materials will be available in the future.

CALAVA SL delivers these raw materials in ships of between 3,000 and 8,000 tons to the Channel coast and various North Sea ports. A key advantage of the raw materials offered by CALAVA is their high quality and continuous availability. This means that green urban development can continue sustainably and reliably in the future.
